Walmart Super Center 3458 Dickerson Rd, Nashville, TN 37207 Skyline – Catona and Melissa

Walmart Supercenter

3458 Dickerson Pike
Nashville, TN 37207
Having been a part of East Nashville community for 4 years, one of the hardest part was just having K-Mart. But that changed a few years ago – We got Walmart Super Center at 3458 Dickerson Pike.
I’ve been amazed at the level of service and hospitality offered by the employees, particuarly Melissa and Catona. Though I’m sure they have lives, worlds, problems and bills like the rest of us, they seem to leave those at home and bring a smile to their job.
I have a habit of leaving things at WalMart when I checkout – a bag or two. It costs me gas to turn around and come back. Sometimes I end up with other people’s stuff who did the same – just left it in the spinner that holds the bags. But Melissa is sharp, she makes sure I leave with what I purchased.
I was doing a last minute photo print order at 8:40 and as I was changing my mind due to time, an employee named “Catona” came after me to make sure I didn’t need help. That’s really really out of the ordinary, as many retail employees see customers as interruptions and not people who need help.
Catona and Melissa – together they make WalMart a good experience for me and I wouldn’t shop anywhere else…until they move on to other jobs! They save me gas, time and money!

Jeff Stratton of McDonalds Emailed about the Experiences with the Bertuca Organization McDonalds in Nashville

My recent email to Jeff Stratton of McDonalds – I would emphasize it did not turn out to be fraud but it was a strange practice in general and management had no explanation for it and there was never an apology by management for them taking my credit card and wanting me to pull forward without it.

See how the story began with my suspicions of credit card fraud at the Bertuca Organization’s Mcdonalds.

Fortunately there was no fraud but the behavior of taking one’s credit card and asking the customer to pull forward WITHOUT their card is in my eyes suspicious. They said they would bring it back out to me. Odd.

Bertuca Organization: The Untold Story of McDonalds in Nashville Brick Church Pike

I am only expressing the truth of what happened. But in the wake of reports of McDonald’s Franchisees Not Pleased About Improving Customer Service this all seems to make sense to me. Chicago Business reported on how a smile’s the last straw for some McDonalds owners which is also consistent with all of my treatment at the Bertuca Organization’s McDonalds restaurant locations. And so the original yarn unfolds…

I’ve realized the original story was never told of the VERY first set of encounters with the Bertuca Organization. It was Summer of 2012. I reported this to Meredith McBough and later John Beckett of the Bertuca Organization. From not taking orders to my suspicions of credit card fraud, it was only the beginning….

2311 Brick Church Pike
Nashville, TN
August 17, 2012 12:00am
I pulled up to the Drive Through and was asked to wait at the order board. I waited so long I had to turn on my 4 ways. When the girl returned to take orders there was NO apology at all. When I pulled up to pay I had to wait yet AGAIN, and then when I pulled up for my order I was given my drink and told to wait yet again – this time pulling up past the window.
There was NO APOLOGY from ANYONE so when my food came out the employee didn’t say ONE WORD to me at ALL. I asked to speak to the manager who came out and I explained to them all the waiting, lack of apologies and guess what, SHE DIDN’T APOLOGIZE EITHER. It was like she she didn’t care.  I highly recommend retraining all employees in common courtesies OR hiring people who want to serve customers, I don’t actually care which. Because it was clear to me that I was a disturbance and an inconvenience to whatever goes on in that restaurant at night. All that waiting, maybe there was a party, who knows, but I sure wasn’t invited! Worst service on a rainy night.
August 18 2012
Yet another incident at the McDonalds Bertuca Organization Location on Brick Church Pike:
Just had more mediocre service from this location, was “told” to pull forward to wait for order, not asked, so I said I wasn’t going to since I wasn’t asked, I was “ordered”. Order came WITHOUT an item, they then gave me the WRONG missing item, then asked me what it was and I advised them to check my order and they finally corrected it.Why do they ask for my order at the order board if they aren’t going to fulfill it AND aren’t going to bother to check their own order screen? I might as well have gotten paid to fulfill my own order. This is getting ridiculous and I dare say I should just go behind the counter and get the orders myself since I can read a screen, which clearly they cannot do and rely on asking the customer to do themselves.
And then September 26, 2012 – was this employees taking people’s credit card #’s at McDonalds?  or Pocketing cash? I reported it to John Beckett at the Bertuca Organization
Another incident last night around midnight, I placed an order at the drive through and pulled up, they took my credit card, gave me my food but would not give me my credit card back. They asked me to pull forward to wait for my credit card even though I had my food. I refused because that opens it up to fraud. I didn’t know if he needed time to do an imprint or copy down the numbers with me out of view. He stated that he didn’t place my order and that he needed to place the order of the person BEHIND me first so I needed to pull forward. The manager was standing outside chit chatting with someone, probably on break, I suggested getting the manager involved and then they suddenly changed their tune and rang the card through and returned it to me. I spoke to the manager who really didn’t have much to say about it.

I wondered if he was  just giving out food hoping to pocket “cash” then got stuck with an un-rung order and a credit card, or if some other serious issue was going on. Either way, this is the third or fourth really bizarre incident at this McDonalds and if ANY fraudulent charges come up on my card I will let Wells Fargo know to investigate your restaurant and credit card practices… if your restaurant is nothing but a front to get people’s credit card #’s, it needs investigated and I may reach out to the Tennessee State Attorney General on this matter.
>>>Fortunately no fraudulent charges came up. But this was suspicious to me. No other merchant in my decades of credit card use has ever behaved this way.  Only at the Bertuca Organizaion McDonalds in Nashville.
The dialogue I had with Meredith McBough and John Beckett over all of these 3 incidents was the last I heard. Future incidents were really not addressed by them, they went to an area supervisor including denial of service at the Bertuca Organization’s McDonalds in Nashville on Hillsboro Pike. Is this the Bertuca way of doing business?

Kermit Gosnell Abortion Doctor Outrage – Mainstream Media Ignores But Social Media Does Not

The Mainstream media has all but ignored Kermit Gosnell, the abortion doctor on trial in Philadelphia for what can only be described as acts of horror.

“Infant beheadings. Severed baby feet in jars. A child screaming after it was delivered alive during an abortion procedure. Haven’t heard about these sickening accusations?

It’s not your fault. Since the murder trial of Pennsylvania abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell began March 18, there has been precious little coverage of the case that should be on every news show and front page….

NBC-10 Philadelphia reported that, Stephen Massof, a former Gosnell worker, “described how he snipped the spinal cords of babies, calling it, ‘literally a beheading. It is separating the brain from the body.” One former worker, Adrienne Moton, testified that Gosnell taught her his “snipping” technique to use on infants born alive.”

http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2013/04/10/philadelphia-abortion-clinic-horror-column/2072577/

“A Lexis-Nexis search shows none of the news shows on the three major national television networks has mentioned the Gosnell trial in the last three months. The exception is when Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan hijacked a segmenton Meet the Press meant to foment outrage over an anti-abortion rights law in some backward red state.”

However I have prepared a social media report that right now is outdated but lists examples of the Kermit Gosnell trial being covered BY THE PEOPLE. It lists 50 some mentions but by the hours it’s grown. This is just the initial report.

I am disturbed because the mainstream media would look at this as an abortion issue, yet if this exact issue were happening in China they would all cover it as a HUMAN RIGHTS issue since China is the ‘big bad’ . But it has to be up to Social Media to cover this doctor’s trial in what Democratic Lawmaker Daniel Patrick Moynihan appropriately called “Infanticide” and what then-Senator Hillary Clinton voted “Yes” to the “Born Alive Infant Protection Act” to prevent.

And the horrors don’t end there.

http://www.lifenews.com/2013/04/08/gosnell-worker-baby-screamed-during-live-birth-abortion/

“Gosnell has been denied bail while the case against him moves forward. Women have spoken out about their treatment and one woman says she was drugged and tied up and forced to have an abortion.”

Why are the grass roots on BOTH sides of the aisle covering this while the mainstream is not? I wish I knew.

Email about the Bertuca Organization McDonalds in Nashville

My email to corporate:

The Bertuca Organization promised us 3 Extra Value Meal Coupons, we only got 2. We went to this location to use our 2 and drove off with our order thinking it was correct but it was missing honey BarbQ sauce. We had to spend money driving BACK to get the sauce. Now we were short 1 meal AND the meals we did use they still can’t get right. What is so hard about reading the order on the SCREEN? It’s bad enough the Bertuca Orgnization has refused service to us, a mixed family, over a cup of water, but now the Bertucas don’t want to give us our full order and let us drive away without it? If they profit from not giving customers their full order and hope they won’t notice, if that’s the Bertuca way of raising money to pay their franchise fee, that’s inexcusable. No other mcDonads gives us this much trouble but it’s always a Bertuca organization McDonalds who tries to take our credit cards, refuse service based on factors we don’t understand, and shorts our orders. I’m tired of being Bertuca’d. I’d like an extra value meal that I can use at any location, so I don’t have to back and deal with Bertuca quality service. I’d like a gift card for $10 so I can walk away from Bertuca locations. Going back to use the coupon they gave us just creates headaches and forces Bertuca employees to fulfill orders accurately, a standard they clearly never reach with us. They are as efficient as the closed location on Broadway. Not at all.

Bertuca Organization Strikes Again McDonalds 906 Rivergate Parkway Goodlettsville, TN 37072

906 Rivergate Parkway Goodlettsville, TN 37072.

After an email to McDonalds corporate yet again, The Bertuca Organization sent just 2 of the 3 Extra Value Meal coupons they promised us. So we went to the 906 Rivergate Parkway Goodlettsville, TN 37072 McDonalds Location and ordered two meals including a Chicken McNugget meal with honey mustard sauce. We got our meal and drove away, down the road, only to discover we’d been Bertuca’d. There was no honey mustard sauce in the bag. We had to turn around, drive back, go inside and get our sauce.

Only at the Bertuca Organization (TBO) McDonalds do we run into problems like this. Their McDonalds in Nashville never result in the service we receive from other McDonalds Nashville. So we just get Bertuca’d….

McDonalds in Nashville The Bertuca Organization Lets Down Yet Again

In the December incident at the McDonalds at 4114 Hillsboro Pk, Nashville, TN run by the Bertuca Organization the area supervisor promised 3 coupons to make up for our time and trouble with the McRib sandwich and commuting an hour only to be refused service by the Bertuca Organization.

The Area supervisor I spoke to promised to mail them. It’s now March 7, and in the traditional Bertuca Organization style I am accustomed to, I have no coupons. McScammed and Betuca’d yet again. By the Bertruca Organization McDonalds Restaurants in Nashville, TN.

Crete Carrier – There Are No Shortcuts – INCLUDING SAFETY

Create Carrier Offers Superior Drivers That Are Safe

Today I encountered a Crete Driver Tractor Trailer, # 225078. I followed him on I-24E from Nashville proper towards the Smyrna area. I was highly impressed at how he handled his rig. He drove safe, obeyed the rules of the road, and appeared alert and responsive. He was a cut above the rest of what I normally see on Nashville’s highways.

I-24 is notorious for accidents, careless drivers, and major setbacks due to small driving mistakes. While cars outnumber truckers, truckers have a greater responsibility, are in many cases professionally trained, and in my estimation, bear a greater responsibility. This Crete Carrier driver clearly realized all of that.

Kudos to Crete Carrier – I’d feel confident and safe if my family were sharing the highway with Crete Carrier.

My email to Richard Dreiling, Dollar General CEO

After no response from Dollar General via phone, the refusal of any follow up information, I have sent an email to Richard Dreiling of Dollar General:

Dear Mr. Dreiling:

As a Nashvillian I was disappointed at the unresponsiveness of Dollar General to my phone calls and inquiries about an incident I had on the highway on 65N / Trinity Lane with one of the carriers that bears the Dollar General Logo. And while they may be contracted carriers, Dollar General’s brand is being extended to Dollar General’s benefit. In response to my inquiries, Dollar General refused to allow me to follow up with anybody, has not returned my calls or responded to my electronic communications. I am deeply disappointed  and I in the past have even been to your Goodletsville office on other business. I have been a vendor of Dollar General in the past and your company was responsive to me both when I was working with two homeless kids by donating things to us to help them take care of them as well as after the death of Clarence, a Dollar General Manager who was killed leaving Dollar General a few years back.
Please help me understand why Dollar General has placed such a low value, less than a $1 on my life and not responded to me at all. They have the ability to at least respond to me but have chosen to treat me like a fifty cent used piece of gum. I used to respect Dollar General esp the district / operations manager Michelle, the late Clarence, and the many Dollar Generals across TN that I visited as a vendor for Crossmark / Nielsen Marketing.
Best,
Ron

My Lives…

…so long…

I remember just being the outsider looking in, never quite understanding anything. Being the one who never fit in, never quite belonged, never quite felt comfortable. But that eventually passed.

It was lifetimes ago and yet I remember interviewing Monica, Ray J, Fabolous; I remember press events meeting Wyclef Jean, screening Aaliyah’s movie and her final release party before her untimely death – being in the same room as she, not knowing it would be the final time. Valentine’s Day showing up with a bear and chocolates for R&B singer Brandy after her mom invited me to “A Tribute for Rod Stewart” by Atlantic Records, a private party.

And then travelling the world working with AIDS orphans in Zambia, South Africa, and Kenya, 5 trips in 2 1/2 years, it was an amazing run. Vistiting Amsterdam, London, and other places along the way was so exciting, and truly believing I was making a difference out there, experiencing different cultures and ways of life, new civilizations, going where I hadn’t gone before. Lost a child on the last adventure. I think I underestimated how much losing a 6 week old child does to one’s sense of adventure.

And most recently, lived two lives at once, helping run a film company, getting to visit film sets across the country, spending time with Garcelle Beauvis, Matthew Marsden, Doug Jones, Dan Ireland, Jonathan Shepard, and so many others, returning to L.A. – the site of the final film set – with the help of my guide Alexis to work with the homeless, and at the same time running an open home for teens in East Nashville, allowing them in 24/7 for rest, food, sanctuary, training, and recreation.

Now…I’m a parent. In my 11th month of parenting. A new adventure entirely. The things on my mind these days are parenting the best way I know how, and hoping to find my friend Alexis one day in the future. I’ve not asked for much for myself over the years, but finding her in the future would be a nice kiss to the past.
